TAKE COURAGE AND DON’T BE AFRAID

TAKE COURAGE and DON’T BE AFRAID

MATTHEW 14: 22-33

  • As we approach to the end of the year, I want to encourage those who have been afflicted by the enemy in any way.
  • Be encouraged, do not be afraid, much more – raise your faith and move forward
  • It is very important to move forward in faith because the devil is still at work
  • However, the good news is that, even though the devil is afflicting us and cause different temptations on our way; we remain to be conquerors – ROMANS 8:37

From the scripture we have read, I would like us to respond to two questions

1. WHY SHOULD BELIEVERS TAKE COURAGE and NOT TO BE AFRAID

  • Believers are not exempted from the waves and wind –Vs. 24
  • In the course of life, we all encounter different waves and winds
  • These may be waves of sickness, loneliness, unemployment, unstable marriage, etc.
  • We can even encounter these waves while in the course of fulfilling our calling
  • Remember, it was Jesus who had instructed the disciples to get into the boat-Vs. 22

2. WHAT SHOULD BELIEVERS DO WHEN FACED WITH WAVES and WIND

  • Pay attention to what Jesus is telling us to do while faced by waves – Vs. 27-29
  • Put your focus and faith on Jesus and not on the waves and wind – Vs. 30a
  • It is good always to cry out unto Jesus for help/ support and Salvation – Vs 30b
  • Do not doubt the promises of God / the Word from God /His power – Vs. 31
  • Invite Jesus into your boat/challenge for Him to settle down the waves – Vs. 32

Let us therefore be encouraged and remember that the waves and wind shall not destroy us. Jesus is with us and when He is with us, we are safe and protected from all dangers and afflictions. Let’s do not be afraid of the waves of this world but be of good cheer. Jesus was born to set us free and calm down all the waves afflicting us.
